One American who wishes Pacquiao all the worst
Bob Arum said “nobody in the US” cares whether the Manny Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto bout Nov. 14 is for a world title or not.
This old file photo of a grinning Arum and his Pacquiao promotion partner Oscar De La Hoya makes Arum out to be a liar on that issue.
De La Hoya won titles in an amazing six weight classes during his storied career.
Now Pacquiao, who Oscar almost seduced away from Arum but who still has a hand in Manny’s pocket, stands on the verge of fighting Cotto with the chance of copping a world crown in a record seventh weight class.
You think Oskie would like to see anyone, let alone the guy who knocked him abruptly into retirement, smash his record?
So, Uncle Bob, you were wrong. This would be a nightmare for Oscar.
There’s at least one American who cares if it’s a world title bout or not.
He’s a slightly tarnished Golden Boy who wishes to hold on to that record.
You may not care about it, Arum, but Oscar cares, he really cares.
It would add insult to his Pacquiao fight injuries to see Manny make such ring history.
