Mosley too legit to quit, makes new Pacquiao offer
Say this for Sugar Shane Mosley, the man never gives up.
Hearing that Miguel Angel Cotto is balking at defending his WBO welterweight title against Manny Pacquiao Nov. 14, Mosley is ready to rush in where this Angel fears to tread or at least fears to tread with his title stap.
“What does Manny want?" Mosley asked on Thursday. “He can have all my old title belts. They just sit in my garage and gather dust as it is.
"I’ve got an old pool table I never use. I’ve got some great old music on those eight track things. I could also wash and wax Manny’s cars if he likes.
“Manny can have it all if he wants it…hell, Manny can even have cutman Cassius Greene's sailor's cap. Do you know what you could get for that on Ebay?"
Mosley said he is getting "a bit desperate" for his second bout of 2009.
"I got expenses, i got upkeep, I got kids," Mosley said. "If I don't get a fight sometime soon, I will be as broke as the State of California, you heard? I was thinking of getting a day job because with Golden Boy I only have to show up for press conferences and fights. And I have to laugh at the stupid jokes Oscar, Richard and Bernie Hopkins make. When did BHop fight last, 1998?"
Mosley also said he doesn’t see himself getting “Employee Of The Month” honors at Golden Boy for July.
“Richie Rich put in a suggestion box. So I wrote a note about the Marquez-Mayweather GBP promotion for Sept. 19.
“I think the ’Numero Uno’ theme is ridiculous and I wrote that. My idea was they call ’The War For Number Four,” Mosley said. “That makes more sense.
“I mean The Blind Boys of Alabama can see Pac is The Man, the Numero Uno, and I am Number two until I fight and beat him.
“So simple logic dictates that Juan Ma, who lost twice to Manny, and Mayweather who abandoned his Pound For Pound position and let Manny swipe it, can only be competing for third and fourth place.”
Mosley’s comments came to me at night.
In a dream.
And I was born at night.
But not last night.
