Manny Pacquiao’s Most Effective Techniques part 5: Speedy Combinations. The conclusion.

Manny Pacquiao vs Oscar Dela Hoya, 1 minute 20 seconds left in round seven, Manny Pacquiao jumped onto Oscar Dela Hoya with super fast six punch combination that was punctuated by a hard left straight! Oscar got rocked and was holding on to the top rope... 1 minute 12 seconds left in round seven, Manny Pacquiao leapt towards Oscar Dela Hoya again, and threw a beautiful four punch combination to the Oscar Dela Hoya’s face! All of those punches connected in pin-point accuracy. When the round was over, that four punch combination was replayed in super-slow motion, and it’s a marvel to witness something as brutal yet as beautiful as that! And each time they showed that replay, you can hear the audience exclaiming their “Oooooh!” and “Ahhhhhh!” everytime they see the punch connect in that replay.

Manny Pacquiao, is the pound for pound best boxer in the world. He amazed us with his relentlessness. His stamina is simply amazing. It seems like as the rounds go by, he gets stronger and stronger while his opponents gets more and more tired. His speed is truly awe inspiring. His footwo... he is right in front of you when he hits you, and then he’s nowhere to be found when his opponents tries to hit him back.

And what amazes people when he fights are his combinations. Which brings us to Manny Pacquiao’s Most Effective Techniques part 5: Speedy Combinations. The conclusion.

Those combinations didn’t come by just like that for Manny Pacquiao. In the beginning, Manny only have the one-two combination, he would flick the right jab and with the left straight being the deadly blow that usually brings his opponents down. And yes, he brought down many of his opponents even with his limited skills, and pure raw power.

Somehow Coach Freddie Roach has molded Manny Pacquiao into a truly great fighter he is today. Now, Manny Pacquiao throws variety of combinations, to the head and to the body. Hook, uppercut, cross, hook to the body… Jab, straight, hook, straig... etc. etc. Then by the time his opponents tries to counter, his foot work will just move out of range and they can’t hit him. Which is really too bad for Manny Pacquiao opponen... its bad enough being hit by one of Manny Pacquiao’s wicked power punch, but his punches usually are followed up by four or five more of those bad intentioned, speedy, punches coming at more than 100kms per hour! That’s why Pacquiao’s opponents can’t see where Manny’s punches are coming from! They may be able to block or evade one or two of them, but it’s almost impossible to block or evade all of them when punches are raining. And here’s more bad news for Manny’s opponents; Pacquiao never gets tired! He never gets
punched out! He will rain combination punches on his opponent from round 1 to 12.

From a one-armed left-handed fighter, to a complete fighter we now know today, we are fortunate to live in this lifetime to witness the greatness of a one Manny Pacquiao. And from where he started, homeless, forced to sell cigarettes in the streets of Manila to earn a living due to poverty; to get where he is right now, the pound for pound best fighter in the world, and one of the highest paid athlete of his time. It took Manny Pacquiao to tread the long hard road. He started fighting at age 16 for $2 per fig... Now he is the most sought after fighter! Whoever he fights will get the biggest payday of their lives. All these came to Manny Pacquiao because of his amazing dedication.

As the saying goes “It is not about the will to win. Everybody has that. It is the will to prepare to win!”

When Manny Pacquiao trains, he’s a machine. Freddie Roach sometimes needed to slow him down to keep him from doing too much. There are also times when Freddie Roach needed to stop Manny from doing more “extra” rounds during training. The legendary coach knows that “overtraining” is even worse than under training. Because once you got yourself injured, all that you’ve trained for shall be wasted. Manny is reported to knock out his bigger sparring partners every now and then, during training camp. As Manny Pacaquiao said “If you train hard, the fight is easy.”

Many can be said about how great Manny Pacquiao is as a fighter, but what makes him the greatest is not only about his fights inside the ring, but also the way he conducts himself outside the it. Manny Pacquiao is truly a champion, in his thoughts, in his words and in his actions. Its hard to believe how humble and down to earth the pound for pound best fighter in the world, but he is! He never brags about himself, he never bad mouth his opponents, his discipline inside and outside the ring is inspiring. And it’s a joy to witness Manny Pacquiao and his most effective techniques in our lifetime.

And as a conclusion, quoting Bob Arum, a hall of fame boxing promoter, who’s been in the business for forty years and had seen the likes of Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard, et. al.

“This young man (Manny Pacquiao) after all the record books were writt... is the greatest boxer ever lived! Not the greatest boxer of his era... But the greatest boxer ever lived! You know what makes Manny Pacquiao so great? Its because he never stop learning! Many people when they are the best, they refuse to learn, thinking they already know it all, that’s why they are the best. But Manny Pacquiao, is always eager to learn something new. That’s why in each fight, he keeps getting better and better. That’s why he’s the greatest.”
