If only 1/16th of the reports are accurate concerning the rift between Pacquiao adviser Michael Koncz and trainer Freddie Roach are true, there is a real problem at hand here. If it is true that Koncz wants Roach out of the equation, what exactly would his motive be? Most would say, "money!"
Recently New York boxing scribe Michael Marley interviewed hall of fame boxing trainer Emmanuel Steward and got his thoughts on this rift between Roach and Koncz. Read that here.

During Marley's interview, Steward makes it clear that nobody but Roach should be handling the boxing camp, especially the sparring partners. Why in the world is Michael Koncz choosing sparring partners? In Marley's interview, Steward talks about the chemistry between Roach and Pacquiao, and how it should not be tampered with. So again, this writer asks, why?
The proof is in the pudding when you look at the success between both Roach and Pacquiao. The two men have risen to the top together, so why in the world would an adviser be interfering with such success? Is it time for Manny Pacquiao to make a decision here? After all, Manny does have the final say on who is in, and who is out.
OK, so let us look at two scenarios as it pertains to Manny Pacquiao's career. Scenario 1 - Roach is out and Koncz is in. If this happens, then what? Roach is out and Pacquiao brings in a new boxing trainer? This would please Koncz and everybody lives happily ever after? Scenario 2 - Koncz if fired and Roach stays. If this happens, Manny's career continues with the coach that has traveled to the top with him, and advisers are a dime a dozen. I'll let you make up your mind on which scenario makes more sense.
