Excellent episode of 24/7 Pacquiao vs. Cotto

Pacquiao Cotto 24/7
Watching people's lifelong possessions float by in muddy water is never fun. I certainly believe Manny Pacquiao is sincere in his hopes his countrymen get much more aid and assistance and aren't forgotten once the HBO cameras leave.

What also struck me was that I enjoyed the show. With all the tragedy around, it was still refreshing. I'm interested in these two fighters.

I hated the episodes of the Mayweather - Marquez promotion, not because I didn't like the fighters, but because I just couldn't handle Floyd Sr. and Uncle Roger.

I couldn't understand them, they are both bores, and lack any redeeming social value. They're simply not interesting. But that's me.

If what HBO does helps to sell addition households and converts some casual fans into diehards, that's great. It's ambitious and I hope it continues to pay off for them.

While I'm interested and will watch the rest of the shows; it's really wasted on me because I know I'm going to buy a ticket fight night without it. Maybe even buy a poster and a knockoff T-shirt or two.

So I have to say I was wrong back in September when I criticized the show. With the Mayweather family involved, HBO doesn't have much to work with in my opinion.

Having worked at many training camps over the years as a publicist, I have to say what I found most compelling was Freddie Roach walking up to Manny Pacquiao and his political guest and interrupting them to share the crisis they were in regarding the approaching weather and the need to break camp for Manila.

Sometimes how you approach a situation makes all the difference and I believe Freddie did as well as he could have hoped.

I have been chewed out publicly in hotel coffee shops in front of dozens of people and my peers by some of the best including a robust Lou Duva for all kinds of reasons. I still have the scars. It goes with the crazy job.
