Usually when Freddie Roach makes a prediction, he is pretty close. Recently the famed fight trainer has predicted a 1st round knockout for Manny Pacquiao over Miguel Cotto. Really? Is Freddie serious about this, or is he doing what he does so well, and that's to play mind games? Roach is not only a master strategist and trainer, but he's also very good at getting into the heads of his opponents.
Surely Roach doesn't really mean that Cotto goes to sleep in the first round. If Manny Pacquiao knocks out Miguel Cotto in the 1st round, Freddie roach moves from great trainer to modern day prophet. Cotto being a full fledged 146lb welterweight will be the most powerful opponent that Manny will have faced thus far. With Roach's prediction, he's not even giving Cotto the luxury of a feel out round. If this prediction is to come to fruition, Pacquiao will have to jump on Cotto at the start of the bell, and go crazy on the guy.
If Manny Pacquiao knocks out Miguel Cotto in one round, how will he not be considered not only pound for pound king, but one of the greatest fighters of all time? Roach himself said that, "we are not going to get in there and bang with this guy, we are not stupid." Well if that's true, how does Roach expect Manny to knockout Miguel Cotto in the first round?
Seems to be that Roach has launched operation mind-games, surely he doesn't really think Cotto sleeps in one. Or does he?
