I'm not buying the sudden "feel good" aura now pervading Camp Pacquiao. I understand the sun is out and shining, and Jose Luis Castillo has arrived. But I'm not sold. Not until Manny Pacquiao arrives in Hollywood, CA sometime between October 24 - 25Th.
Freddie Roach would have said things are great if the newest Pacquiao sparring partner were Oprah rather than veteran Jose Luis Castillo.
Roach's comments made common sense. It may have bought some time from all the negative stories about the training camp because of weather, fan and media distractions, internal interference, along with the Jose Luis Castillo controversy. It was good public relations.
I believe Camp Pacquiao will survive the next 10 days and Manny will be ready mentally and physically for the last three weeks when Roach really molds him into the fighter he needs to be against Miguel Cotto Nov. 14.
I'm sure that Manny and Freddie can say they at least tried a local training camp and it was for the Cotto fight and not the Floyd Mayweather fight. I doubt Team Pacquiao will ever be back for any serious training.
October 24 is as much a getaway rather than a normal departure.
