MANNY PACQUIAO AND FREDDIE ROACH GET THE VOTE...

Braggingrightscorner.com FaceBook page had another great week with many fans participating in our daily polls and questions. Remember you can always become a friend by going to www.facebook.com/braggingrightscorner.

“P4P Best fighter today?” - This question is still getting comments as I am typing this article, but as of right now the people have spoken and crowned Manny Pacquiao as the best fighter in the world today. Manny received 50% of the votes. Floyd Mayweather took second with 27%. Many commented that once Floyd retired from the sport Manny Pacquiao easily took over as the world's best fighter and the only way for Mayweather to get his top spot back is to fight and beat Pacquiao. Shane Mosley came in third getting 10% of the votes, Juan Manuel Marquez was 4th at 7%, while Miguel Cotto and Paul Williams each received 3% of the voting.

“Who is today’s best trainer?” - This question received a lot of attention with many names thrown out there. But Freddie Roach can join Manny Pacquiao as the best; he was voted the best trainer, receiving 30% of the voting. Tied for second was Nacho Beristain and Naseem Richardson each getting 15% of the votes. Roger Mayweather came in third with 10%. As most of you know, trainers Nacho Beristain and Roger Mayweather will meet on September 19, when Floyd Mayweather who is trained by his uncle Roger Mayweather fights Juan Manuel Marquez who is trained by Nacho Beristain. Maybe after the fight I’ll post the question again and see if the opinions have changed. Tied for fourth place in the voting was Floyd Mayweather Sr., Teddy Atlas, and Emanuel Steward. At the bottom of the list was Don Turner, Tommy Brooks, John Scully, and John David Jackson, all receiving 3% of the voting.

“Name the best and/or worst referee in boxing” - The people spoke and Best referee went to Steve Smoger with 43% of the voting. Mills Lane was second at 21% while Kenny Bayless came in third getting 14% of the votes. Mark Nelson, Arthur Mercante Sr,, and Richard Steele all got 7%.

Joe Cortez was voted the worst referee with 39% of the votes going his way. And let me tell you the ones who voted for Cortez didn’t have many nice things to say about the man who always claims he’s fair but firm. Laurence Cole came in second with 22% of the voting. This is one poll you don’t want to be in, let alone be voted second. Richard Steele and Randy Newman came in third, each getting 11% of the voting while Arthur Mercante Jr., came in last which is a good thing. Referee Joe Cusano voted himself the worst referee. Good to see these some guys have a sense of humor!

“Should open scoring be used for all bouts?” This question received a lot of comments and nearly ever single one was against open scoring. The most common argument being it would take the drama out of the fight. If a fighter knew he was ahead on the score cards he would get on his bike and stay clear of any danger making for a boring fight. While open scoring may not be the best idea most agreed that something needs to be done about the horrible scoring we see all too often in the sport.

“Thoughts on the upcoming fight between Shane Mosley and Joshua Clottey?” - The fight has been announced for December 26th, and the people are already talking about this fight. 75% of the people who participated believe Shane Mosley will win this bout, 50% believe by knockout while 25% say it will be a decision victory for “Sugar” Shane. 25% believe it will be Clottey's arm that will be raised in victory. All of those who picked Clottey to win also believe it be by decision.

“Best fighter to come out of the U.K.” - This one was a landslide with Joe Calzaghe getting 46% percent of the votes. Coming in second was Lennox Lewis at 18%. Nigel Benn came in third with 11% while Naseem Hamed, Ricky Hatton, and Jimmy Wilde all received 7% of the voting.
