Freddie Roach fires back against Floyd Mayweather Sr. Regarding Steroid Rumors

Pacquiao vs Cotto Updates
Mayweather’s allegations have set off a fire storm of hatred and venom from Pacquiao’s supporters and follow up articles on the matter have only heightened the tension regarding the sensitive subject. I recently contacted Jeff Mayweather to get his thoughts on the matter and he pointed out that if anything, it’s the sport of boxing in a whole that needs examining.

Wanting to get a feel for what those in Pacquiao’s camp feel about the rumors I contacted www.8CountNews.com owner Brad Cooney early Thursday moments after he had made a call to the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles, California and gathered up Roach’s thoughts on the matter. Roach was in a hurry, as he was set to leave to Florida and then the Philippines to assist Pacquiao with training, but was still able to get much off of his chest.

“All of a sudden Floyd Mayweather Sr. is an expert on steroids?” Roach would fire off right from the bat. “If that’s the case than please tell me what he was taking Floyd?”

Wanting to further prod at Mayweather Sr., who happened to be the head trainer for Ricky Hatton this past May when the Manchester native was leveled in two rounds by Pacquiao, Roach pointed out the obvious.

“It had nothing to do with the perfect left hand that he fired on your fighter’s chin?” Roach snipped. “As far as I am concerned Floyd Mayweather Sr. isn’t the best trainer in the sport, he’s the worst in the sport.”

As his passions grew more and more, Roach again pointed out his belief in not only Manny Pacquiao, but also in the meaning of ethics as well. Roach would go on to state that he has been talking to his lawyers and that a possible slander case could be pending. When Manny Pacquiao was informed of the news he was said to be in complete agreement with Roach.

While this has created quite a negative buzz for many involved, Roach still seems stumped when looking for answers. All he can come up with is that success breeds hate.

“There’s an always an excuse as to why you lost and he’s just looking for excuses. We don’t take drugs. We don’t need drugs. And we definitely don’t believe in drugs.”
