The Humanitarian Manny PacquiaoThe Humanitarian Manny Pacquiao
Manny Pacquiao's popularity is sweeping through more then just boxing circles. The Filipino icon is becoming a world wide star with a huge heart.
Not many boxers have graced the cover of Time Magazine, but Pacquiao is not like many boxers. His story is unique -- abandoned by his father, raised by a strict mother, Manny left home to box in Manila and relieve the burden on a mom raising six children.
Making his pro debut in 1995, he made his Las Vegas debut in 2001 as a replacement fighter. He won.
Now others less fortunate are winning because of his good fortune. Ninety million people in his homeland worship the pound for pound king, not to mention all his American and Mexican fans. There's just something about him.
He is nice and other benefit. The 30-year-old has given away millions to help those in need, helping not only Filipinos, but those in Indonesia and Samoa.
When asked to help, he can't say no. He's got a grip on the Philippines, much like Nelson Madela has on South Africa. Earlier this year, he made Time Magazine's Top 100 list as one who's made an affect on the world. Unheard of from a boxer, unless it's Manny Pacquaio.
